Now that the 100-day pressure is off, I nearly blew it today!
I was busy all morning and left it a bit late this afternoon to go out to Southend to run some errands. But I had several caches in mind. Good job – the first two I couldn’t find for love nor money. It was left to the third, which I previously DNF’d a couple of weeks ago (but knew it had been found since) which I managed to locate just in time before I had to be somewhere else. Phew!
I was back in Southend today running an errand. My intended caches were the little Lifstans Way trio in Southchurch Park East. Sad to say I didn’t find the first two – and since I wanted to reach my 3700 finds milestone today (I needed three) I had to look for alternatives.
So I had another go at the tricky cache in Southchurch Hall Gardens – got it this time! And I saw turtles in the lake!

I was still one short so bought a sandwich and drove to Shoeburyness for my picnic before taking a stroll along the prom. It was quite blustery and the waves were crashing.

Squinting hard I could just about discern the outline of Redsands Fort beyond Maplin Sands. It’s on my bucket list to visit sometime – especially as I know there’s a cache out there!
Is That Redsands?
Then onto a quick find, Blue Flag, for my 3700th. The final cache of the day was firmly rooted on dry land – in the old Garrison. I passed the drill hall on the way – it has a curious roof.
