Kitty!! and I attempted It Takes Two in Basildon a couple of months ago, but it was missing. A return mission was scheduled for today, it having been replaced recently. This time it was a lightning quick find (we had taken the right gear with us!) which filled another DT square for me – D4/T4.5. Just five to go now!
Here’s what’s left of my DT grid after today’s finds:
After that success, we headed around the park for a few more that one or the other hadn’t found. But it took at least half an hour to locate the elusive twit at Holy Cross Perching – just as we were about to give up, I spotted the little blighter! Phew!
Today’s target was a nice little series of 9 caches by Indy Walker, set in North Benfleet. I didn’t leave home until early afternoon, but since sunset is around 4:30pm now the clocks have changed, I knew I had to get a move on to get them all found in daylight.
The start of the walk was along a lovely tree-lined byway.
I took a brief detour from the 9-cache loop to find Geisha’s Gallop (by the same CO) – a rather cool little owl hanging in a tree!
One cache was guarded by a troll at this unusually-constructed bridge.
Another hide had had several DNF’s logged previously, but I dug a big deeper than most and voilà! There it was!
I found all but one of the caches – I have suspicions that the last one is gone. It was getting dark by the time I was able to look properly, but sometimes the hunch that it’s missing is strong and you don’t keep searching forever.
