Trad: 1 Puzzle: 15
Walked: 6.5 miles
A few weeks ago, I had noticed a new puzzle series, Walmington Wander by Infinson, pop up on the map a few miles to the north of Chelmsford in the rural outback around Littley Green, Hertford End and Ford End. I set about solving the Dad’s Army themed puzzles (16 in total) last week, and decided they would be my target for my afternoon outing.
As usual, Infinson hides are not always the easiest. He doesn’t often give hints. So I struggled at a few places but luckily only ended up with one DNF (which actually turned out to be Missing In Action). I met two cachers a few times along the route, local Karate Ken and Surrey-based Kitey, It was nice to have a bit of company during the search at times.
The biggest hide was this one, marvellously camo’d in the side of a huge branch!

There were also field puzzles to overcome – how to open this one? Don’t Tell ‘Em!

As usual, I saw a few livestock along the way. These sheep looked on in a bemused fashion as I rummaged under a tree stump close to their field’s fence.

The penultimate hide was rather a stinker – hidden deep within a hedge. Heaven knows how I spotted it! But it did mean I was certainly living up to my friend’s disparaging name for geocachers – Hedge Fiddlers!
