Day #223 – Beyond The World’s End

Trad: 3 Challenge: 1 Earth: 1
Walked: 4.2 miles

They have a very small world view in Kelvedon and Feering! This was the GZ of the first cache I found today on my way to Colchester.

I can report that plenty lies beyond! For starters, I returned to The Bingo Challenge Cache in Copford, which I had previously DNF’d when it was missing. It’s recently been replaced so I thought I would give it another shot. Of course, for clambering up bridge slopes, I went dressed the part:

I’ve driven past Foxscout’s Sarcen Stones Earthcache in Greenstead hundreds of times. But today was the day I finally got around to stopping to gather the information.

After finding another couple of trads around the Hythe on a chilly late afternoon walk, I arrived at Mum & Dad’s to thaw out!

Day #220 – Chignal Chasing #1

Trad: 1
Walked: 4.0 miles

The morning was spent organising getting my sick car to the garage. Another ride on the back of a tow truck, another expensive bill, no doubt! We shall have to wait and see what the diagnosis is.

Being without transport again, I had to resort to one of my standby caches, this time Chignal Chase #1. By the time I set off to catch the bus it was beginning to turn nasty. By the time I got off the bus to start my 1.5 mile round trip walk to the cache there was a bitter westerly wind blowing stinging rain and hail into my face!

Several times I wondered what the hell I was doing here, and the only thing which kept me trudging on was some of my favourite music piped through my headphones. Eventually I reached a very welcome sign – the target of my search.

Cache found, I had to turn around and trudge back to the bus stop, barely able to feel my legs from the bum to ankles. The things I do for this geostreak!

Day #178 – Licence To Take It Easy

Trad: 1
Walked: 1.0  miles

In the last five days, despite it being January, I’ve cached in Kent (twice), Berkshire, Oxfordshire (twice), Bucks, Milton Keynes and Herts; found 131 caches and walked a little over 46 miles. So today I thought I had earned a rest and would find something much closer to home to maintain my geostreak!

The new hide in Galleywood, Licence To Ride by The Avenue Two fitted the bill nicely. It was a quick find and I was able to tick off a cache for the geostreak then get home to get on with the things I should have been doing over the past five days!
