I left it late in the day for my walk today. North of Chelmsford on my map has had four of Kris&Co’sLittle Critters series outstanding for months, having DNF’d them a while ago when they were missing. She has recently done some maintenance and re-enabled them, so I went out hunting bugs in the hope of polishing them off once and for all.
It didn’t start well – a DNF at Ladybird. Too much ivy, too many trees, not enough of a hint 🙁 However, Scorpion was all present and correct, even if it doesn’t look much like its name any more!
The walk along the track at the edge of the fields was pleasant in the gradually setting sun.
I walked past this rather serious-looking wooden dude on the way to the last couple of caches, Praying Mantis and Butterfly.
The paths to these two don’t really seem to be public footpaths, although they are marked on OSM. However, they were very overgrown today, and I had to struggle along to get anywhere. I was pleased to be rewarded with quick finds at both, which was a bonus as they could have been stinkers.
I guess I will return to Ladybird another day, when the leaves have died back a bit. But for the moment, I’m happy enough with 3/4 today.
Time for just one cache today, but hardly dash… The Little Critters Puzzle Bonus has been bothering me for ages – but it wasn’t until the recent Essex Meet that I got an inkling of how to go about solving it. Numbers crunched, I headed off today to see if I could find it.
The co-ords led me to a film pot, inside which were co-ordinates for the main hide and a key! Once I had searched that out, I found a lovely well-stocked cash box, waiting to receive visitors.
Another great little puzzle ticked off the list! And that also means day 7 of my mini 10-day non-traditional cache streak is complete.
I was surveying some footpaths around the outskirts of Broomfield for The Big Pathwatch this evening and decided to go and hunt for a couple of caches which were outstanding in the area.
BB17 Broomfield Bimble had been published after I had completed the rest of the series ages ago. Little Critters – Fireflies was one I had DNF’d many months back and thought I would have another stab at. Two more green boxes converted to smileys on the map. Job done!
